2K Bringing Two Indie Games to XBLA
The 2K Play division of 2K Games is bringing cardinal indie titles to Xbox Live Arcade: a time-bending tale of pie addiction called The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom and painterly stop-and-snap halt Axel &A; Pel.
As it turns out, you couldn't blame two more drastically different games in concept: one is a colorless and quirky game with what sounds like complex fourth dimension travel mechanics, while the other seems to be a meditative (and decidedly colorful) risky venture in the simple point-and-click vein.
The erstwhile is The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom, developed by The Odd Gentlemen. The game follows the titular misadventures of the titular character, who has an unsatisfied craving for pie and will do no less than keep in line the framework of infinite and time to get his hands on yummy burned goods.
"Phonograph record yourself and harness your clip bending abilities to collaborate, compete against and disrupt your past, present and future selves," The Unmated Gentlemen writes. "Winterbottom's debut misadventures present [a] capricious reel on the notions of time, quad, and play."
The game, which started its lifetime A a student dissertation at the University of Southern California, uses an art style drawn from dumb moving-picture show: it's every top hats and big mustaches in a dark-skinned-and-white world.
Axel & Pixel, meanwhile, seems a bit less convoluted in concept and mechanics. Delineated past 2K as "combining kidney-shaped point-and-click gameplay and a beautiful hand-worn environment," the game is organism formulated by Flatware Wish Games, a pocket-size squad in the Czech Republic.
Axel &adenosine monophosphate; Pixel will personify released this Dusk, while P.B. Winterbottom will hit in "future 2010," during which it will seek to steal a piece of the gross sales pie from the 10 cardinal other games coming out then.
